Frequently asked questions about our Sub-Collectives

Do I have to choose between The Coop and The Loop?

No. Most members naturally gravitate toward one space, but you’re welcome to join both if your work spans creative and community organizing roles.

Do I need experience to join?

Absolutely not. These collectives are designed for emerging and established creators and organizers. What matters is how you show up for the culture, not your résumé.

How much does membership cost?

Membership is FREE through December 31, 2026.

This pricing is designed to keep the collective accessible and to reflect the reality of building something new.

The first year of Backcourt Collective is a foundation-building year. Programs, systems, and partnerships will grow and evolve over time, and not everything will operate at full capacity from day one. Starting membership free acknowledges that early-stage reality while inviting members to help shape what the collective becomes.

Do I need to live in a specific city to participate?

No — Backcourt is a national collective. Both The Coop and The Loop are built for members across cities, with virtual sessions and shared resources.

What’s the difference between joining a sub-collective and joining the newsletter?

Joining the newsletter keeps you connected to the network. Joining The Coop or The Loop gives you access to programming, directories, community spaces, workshops, resources, and collaborative opportunities.

Join a Sub-Collective

Fans contribute to women’s basketball culture in different ways — through art, storytelling, community building, and organizing. The Coop and The Loop exist to support that work with structure, resources, and collective momentum.
