Be part of the collective shaping the future of women’s basketball.
We’re empowering the ecosystem behind women’s basketball culture
You are the people who love women’s basketball. Deeply. The people who built community, kept the game alive, and shaped its identity long before the spotlight arrived. Whether you show up in arenas, sports bars, living rooms, group chats, or comment sections, you are the foundation of the ecosystem we are growing together.
You are the artists, designers, photographers, writers, podcasters, makers, and storytellers whose work documents, imagines, and expands the culture of the W. Your creative labor is cultural labor, and Backcourt exists to make sure it’s recognized, supported, and connected to opportunity.
You are the community leaders: the hosts, connectors, moderators, and caretakers who gather fans, build belonging, and keep local culture thriving. Your work is the invisible infrastructure of fandom, and Backcourt is here to strengthen it, sustain it, and amplify its impact across cities.

Why we center fans in the future of women’s basketball
Women’s basketball didn’t grow because institutions invested in it. It grew because fans did. Every watch party, mural, zine, thread, meetup, jersey, playlist, and group chat has been cultural labor: the work of people who keep the spirit of the W alive and evolving.
Fan labor is creative labor. Organizing labor is community labor. Together, they form the invisible infrastructure that carried women’s basketball through eras of indifference, underinvestment, and erasure.
Those who built the culture deserve to shape its future.
Backcourt exists to honor that work: to recognize the fans, creatives, and organizers who built the culture from the ground up and ensure they remain central as the sport enters a new era of visibility. When growth comes, it must lift the people who sustained the game, not replace them.
